The Source Physical Therapy & Wellness Mission . . . .

Our mission is to be the region’s direct access provider of choice in the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions, utilizing the highest level of evidence-based manual physical therapy techniques and preventative wellness services; all of which promote life-balance and the health & wellness of our patients as well as our providers & staff.

Our rehabilitation approach is designed to incorporate all elements of wellness to provide complimentary mind and body healing. Our exceptional care is delivered in a cost effective manner with an unprecedented level of individualized focus and customer service, which is why physicians and patients across the Washington, DC metro area have trusted us with their care, since 1999.

ARLINGTON LOCATION:

Ashley Fisher, PTA – Clinical Director / Licensed PT Assistant

Ashley Fisher, PTA is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who earned her Associates Degree of Applied Science from East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) University. Ashley’s interest in Physical Therapy began with visits to the athletic trainer in high school, after sustaining a wrist injury while throwing discus for her track and field team. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Randolph-Macon College before pursuing her PTA degree.

Ashley has volunteered and observed in various Outpatient Physical Therapy settings in both the Northern Virginia and the Richmond area. After completing a rotation in an Outpatient Orthopaedic clinic, where she worked with Post-Operative Total Joint Replacement patients and a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, she was drawn to the “hand on” approach of Manual Therapy. While completing her PTA degree, Ashley worked as a Rehabilitation Technician in an outpatient clinic in Mechanicsville, VA and fine tuned her skills in teaching the correct way to perform exercises for maximal therapeutic benefit. Ashley is thrilled to be a member of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team and be able to work closely with an exceptional group of clinicians.

Dr. Laura Stewart, PT, DPT, CDN

Dr. Laura Stewart, PT, DPT, CDN hails from the great sunny state of Colorado. She pursued undergraduate studies in Exercise Science at Syracuse University. While in school, she juggled her studies while also competing in ice hockey and crew. She also worked as an EMT which provided exposure and training in cases requiring emergency medical responses.

She attended the University of New England in Portland, Maine where she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). She has a strong interest in orthopedic dysfunction and sports rehabilitation. She is also Level III certified in Dry Needling and finds this treatment to be a great supplement to the manual therapy provided at Source Physical Therapy and Wellness. She has experience as a physical therapist in busy outpatient orthopedic setting. She is a fierce competitor and sports-driven and understands the importance of optimal performance in competition. She would like to help her patients “compete” to the best of their abilities.

Dr. Marco Morabito, PT DPT, SFMA, CKTPM, CMPT

Dr. Marco Morabito, PT, DPT, SFMA, CKTP, CMPT earned his undergraduate degree in Human, Nutrition, Foods and Exercise at Virginia Tech. He continued his education at Touro College in New York City and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Dr. Morabito developed an interest in becoming a physical therapist after doing an internship at the Jameson Athletic Center. Observing how much of an impact that physical therapists could have with patients; Marco knew this was the field for him.

Dr. Morabito began his career as a Physical Therapist working in an Outpatient Care setting in New York City and gained experience working with an orthopedic population. Through working in an outpatient setting, he has able to improve his manual skills and how to deal with a highly eclectic patient population. Dr. Morabito has also sought to improve his skills by taking numerous orthopedic and manual therapy courses even obtaining a Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) title. In addition, he has become a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP) and specialized in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) through further continued education courses. Dr. Morabito is happy to be a member of the Source Physical Therapy and Wellness team and is committed to providing the best possible care for his patients.

FALLS CHURCH LOCATION:

Dr. Michael O’Connor, PT, DPT

Dr. Michael O’Connor has been a practicing orthopedic physical therapist since 1999. His interest speakers_1in physical therapy originated from a life long involvement in a variety of sports, including: basketball, skiing, golf, and ice hockey. While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rutgers University, in his home state of New Jersey, he sustained a complex hand fracture which required surgery. This was Dr. O’Connor’s first introduction to the remarkable healing power of physical therapy.

Dr. O’Connor successfully completed his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy (MS PT) in 1999 from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Dedicated as a practitioner of life long learning, Dr. O’Connor returned to Marymount University and successfully completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2008. In this challenging health care environment, he and his colleagues continue to provide cost effective services in practice settings which allow the patient to receive exceptional one-on-one evidence based treatment, delivered by the same treating therapist. From his experiences, Dr. O’Connor believes that with the proper clinical setting, clinicians, and motivated patients, there is no better alternative PT.

Dr. Melissa Greco Liu, PT, DPT

Dr. Melissa Greco Liu, PT, DPT received her undergraduate degree in Dance with a minor in Exercise Science from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. After graduating from college, she taught dance and danced professionally for over 10 years with local dance companies in New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. Dr. Liu is also is a certified Yoga Instructor. As a former dancer who suffered multiple injuries over the years, she has experienced personally the healing benefits of Physical Therapy.

Dr. Liu received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Marymount University. She has experience in Outpatient & Inpatient Orthopaedics as well as Neurological Rehabilitation. In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Liu has worked at an outpatient clinic and gained experience working with patients with fractures, hip, knee and shoulder replacements, CVA, Parkinson’s Disease and balance disorders. She enjoys the teaching aspect to clinical care and finds it particularly rewarding to educate patients on how to take an active role in their own recovery. Dr. Liu is thrilled to be part of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team, and to help promote health and wellness within the community.

Cheryl Clanahan, Licensed PT Assistant

Cheryl Clanahan is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who earned her Associates Degree in Applied Science from Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). Cheryl views Physical Therapy as an integral component of maintaining optimal body mechanics and knows first-hand how Physical Therapy plays a role in keeping her and her family members active in their lives. Her confidence in the profession led her to choose it as a second career when she decided to return to the workforce.

Cheryl is fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer and observe physical therapy in multiple settings, including an Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic, an Acute Care Joint Replacement Clinic, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. These experiences have provided Cheryl with a heightened understanding of the key stages of Physical Therapy treatment necessary for helping others through the healing process. Cheryl also brings her perspective as a military spouse supporting her husband in his active duty Air Force career while maintaining their household through multiple moves. For nearly two decades, Cheryl has dedicated herself to raising their two children who are now excelling as college students and volunteering for organizations such as MOPS, Military Spouse Officer Clubs, and Parent-Teacher Associations. Prior to choosing a stay-at-home career, Cheryl was a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor for adolescents and Clinical Program Director for treatment and intervention programs. She strives to help people she meets to develop healthy lifestyles that better enables individuals to achieve their goals. Cheryl is excited about joining the team at Source Physical Therapy & Wellness as another opportunity to make a difference in the community she calls her new home.

Claudia brings extensive knowledge of In-Network & Medicare insurance regulations and determines your insurance coverage & benefits, prior to your Initial Evaluation. This ensures that your Physical Therapy claims are accurate and submitted properly on your behalf.  The efficiency & organization that Claudia brings to the “back office” is extremely valuable to the relaxed, healing environment that we promote at Source Physical Therapy & Wellness.
