Claudia Guzman – Office Coordinator
Claudia will be the first smiling face greeting you at Source Physical Therapy & Wellness. She brings extensive knowledge of In-Network & Medicare insurance regulations and determines your insurance coverage & benefits, prior to your Initial Evaluation. This ensures that your Physical Therapy claims are accurate and submitted properly on your behalf. The efficiency & organization that Claudia brings to the “front office” is extremely valuable to the relaxed, healing environment that we promote at Source Physical Therapy & Wellness.
Dr. Michael J. O’Connor, PT, DPT
Dr. Michael J. O’Connor has been a practicing orthopedic physical therapist since 1999. His interest in physical therapy originated from a life long involvement in a variety of sports, including: basketball, skiing, golf, and ice hockey. While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rutgers University, in his home state of New Jersey, he sustained a complex hand fracture which required surgery. This was Dr. O’Connor’s first introduction to the remarkable healing power of physical therapy.
Dr. O’Connor successfully completed his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy (MS PT) in 1999 from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. Dedicated as a practitioner of life long learning, Dr. O’Connor returned to Marymount University and successfully completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2008. In this challenging health care environment, he and his colleagues continue to provide cost effective services in practice settings which allow the patient to receive exceptional one-on-one evidence based treatment, delivered by the same treating therapist. From his experiences, Dr. O’Connor believes that with the proper clinical setting, clinicians, and motivated patients, there is no better alternative PT.
Dr. Cody G. Meashaw, PT, DPT
Dr. Cody Meashaw, DPT is a graduate of George Washington University where he earned his Doctor
of Physical Therapy degree and was presented with the Excellence in Clinical Leadership Award. Dr. Meashaw’s interest in physical therapy developed as a teenager while playing sports. After multiple injuries, he found that rest and ice only went so far and felt he needed additional guidance to help him fully recover. Dr. Meashaw then went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Syracuse University, where he gained an understanding of how the body and brain respond to exercise and physical training.
With past clinical experience in Outpatient Orthopaedics, Neurological and Cardiovascular Acute Care, Dr. Meashaw has developed an interest in treating all factors leading to and/or prolonging injury. He is interested in endurance sports including running and cycling, as well as team sports including soccer, hockey and lacrosse. Dr. Meashaw believes that Physical Therapy can have a far-reaching impact on a patient’s health and overall function. He is thrilled to be a team member at Source Physical Therapy and Wellness, working closely with an outstanding group of clinicians who approach rehabilitation from a health & wellness perspective.
Dr. Helene Strange, PT, DPT
Dr. Helene Strange, PT, DPT is a graduate of Ithaca College, where she was a collegiate diver and ultimate Frisbee player. Dr. Strange’s interest in healthcare began on her first visit to an athletic trainer in high school, after sustaining a diving injury. She has participated in a plethora of sports and activities including: springboard diving, rock climbing, and cycling. Her own rehabilitation for her injuries inspired her to become a Physical Therapist and provide skilled intervention to others.
Past clinical experiences in Outpatient and Inpatient Orthopedics, as well as Pediatrics with Neurological Disorders has increased her interest in the practice of Physical Therapy. Dr. Strange has a special interest in Manual Therapy and enjoys the creative cohesive process of aiding a patient to recovery. She also able to publish a poster presentation at the Combined Sections Meeting for the APTA called Benefits of Physical Therapy Intervention: The Effects of an Individualized Home Exercise Program (HEP) on Function and Quality of Life (QoL) in 7 Cancer Survivors. Dr. Strange is thrilled to be part of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team, and to help promote wellness in the community with her fellow colleagues.
Ashley Fisher, PTA – Licensed PT Assistant
Ashley Fisher, PTA is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who earned her Associates Degree of Applied Science from East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) University. Ashley’s interest in Physical Therapy began with visits to the athletic trainer in high school, after sustaining a wrist injury while throwing discus for her track and field team. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Randolph-Macon College before pursuing her PTA degree.
Ashley has volunteered and observed in various Outpatient Physical Therapy settings in both the Northern Virginia and the Richmond area. After completing a rotation in an Outpatient Orthopaedic clinic, where she worked with Post-Operative Total Joint Replacement patients and a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, she was drawn to the “hand on” approach of Manual Therapy. While completing her PTA degree, Ashley worked as a Rehabilitation Technician in an outpatient clinic in Mechanicsville, VA and fine tuned her skills in teaching the correct way to perform exercises for maximal therapeutic benefit. Ashley is thrilled to be a member of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team and be able to work closely with an exceptional group of clinicians.
Kimberly Love – Patient Care Coordinator
Kimberly Love is a graduate of Purdue University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Sciences. During her four years at Purdue, Kim was also a member of the women’s soccer team. Her interest in Physical Therapy was truly sparked after sustaining a major knee injury her freshman year of college. In recovering from her injury, she spent significant time in the athletic training room where she got to experience first-hand how individualized Physical Therapy care was able to get her back to full strength and to the sport that she loved. She not only experienced this recovery process for herself, but witnessed it amongst many of her teammates as well.
Kim has always wanted to work in the healthcare field and after shadowing multiple PT’s during her undergraduate years, she believed she found the right fit in Physical Therapy. Kim plans to continue her education and return to school to obtain her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She is very excited to be a part of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team, and participating in their individualized style of care.
Katie Linkous – Patient Care Coordinator
Katie Linkous is a graduate of East Carolina University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy. Since completing her degree as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Katie has provided care for patients with a variety of different diagnoses, including: Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), amputations, burn injuries, Orthopaedic injuries, Total Joint Replacements, and Oncology/bone marrow transplantation.
Katie’s interest in Physical Therapy was first sparked while co-treating with Physical Therapists at a Rehabilitation facility in Jacksonville, FL on the SCI unit. Katie believes in providing the highest quality of care to her patients, while making therapeutic exercises enjoyable and sustainable. She has presented at 2 different Recreational Therapy conferences, and is still active in the Recreational Therapy national and local organizations.
Katie plans to continue her education and return to school to pursue her Doctor in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. She is very excited to be a part of the Source Physical Therapy & Wellness team, and continues to enjoy a variety of activities, including: weightlifting, swimming, outdoor sports and spending time with her Great Dane and Siberian Husky at the dog park.
